Here is a brief description of the publication:

‘Today, with the advent of digital media technologies and the ability to conceptualize, express and produce complex forms using digital means, the question of the status of the architectural form is once again under consideration. Indeed, the computer “liberated” architecture from the tyranny of the right angle and enabled the design and production of non-standard buildings, based on irregular geometry. Yet, the questions concerning the method of form expression in contemporary architecture, and its meaning, remain very much open. Performalism takes up this discussion, defines it and presents changes in form conception in architecture, followed by their repercussions.’

TASHAN review in the Philadelphia section of Zagat Buzz on zagat.com

Friday, August 19th, 2011

Published today on zagat.com is a piece by Danya Henninger that gives a sneak peek to the menu and décor from preview tasting at TASHAN, 777 Broad Street Philadelphia. She explains that the name TASHAN “means ‘style’ or ‘attitude’ in Hindi and Punjabi slang, and… it’s an apt descriptor of what’s in store, both in food and atmosphere.” The article goes on to describe the Archi-Tectonics designed interior and the authenticity of the décor with many pieces selected directly from India. TASHAN - An Archi-Tectonics designed restaurant

Friday, August 5th, 2011

 777-render.jpg

Archi-Tectonics created the design for a new Indian Tapas concept, TASHAN in Philadelphia, merging traditional craft with a cool, modern design. The result is a warm, sultry space with a relaxed lounge, a high-dining area, communal dining table overlooking the open kitchen, and last but not least; a private dining in the wine room.

The overall concept of the restaurant is the creation of very intimate separate zones, which are still connected through laser cut open wood screens, and oblique angles. A major highlight is the communal bathroom with glass bead walls and a large black washbasin to be shared.

Indirect light, differentiated ceiling levels, clear, translucent and colored glass panels, all help to create a very special atmosphere, creating a balance between a precious past and an exciting future.

The customized washbasin, built by Brooklyn-based Associated Fabrication,  is almost finished:
